How many years is the Harmony booster seat good for after the manufacture date?

The standard duration of use for Harmony booster seats, including the Dreamtime, Youth Booster, and Dash models, is six years from the manufacture date. After six years, the seat should no longer be used for safety reasons.

We recommend checking the manufacture date on the seat and discontinuing use after this period.

What is the difference between the Youth Booster seat and the Dash Booster seat?

The primary difference between the Youth Booster and the Dash Booster is their size and shape. The Youth Booster is slightly larger, providing a broader height range (40-57 inches) compared to the Dash Booster (43-57 inches). Additionally, the Youth Booster includes an EPE foam pad for enhanced safety and comfort.

Do your car seats use flame retardants?

All car seats are required by law to meet flammability regulations in both Canada and the U.S., which means flame retardant treatments are used. However, we are committed to minimizing the impact of chemicals on both human health and the environment. Harmony regularly tests for harmful chemicals to ensure compliance with government standards. Rest assured, the safety of children using our products is always our top priority.

What is the difference between the Dreamtime Elite and the Dreamtime MAX?

The Dreamtime Elite features a 6-position headrest and is 18.5” wide, while the Dreamtime MAX offers a 9-position headrest and is slightly narrower at 16.5” wide.

Is this car seat aircraft approved?

The Dreamtime MAX booster seat is not certified for aircraft use, as aircraft seats are not equipped with the proper lap-and-shoulder seat belts needed for booster seat installation.

What are the differences between the Defender 360 Deluxe, Elite, and MAX models?

The main differences between the Defender 360 Deluxe, Elite, and MAX harnessed car seats are the included accessories. The Elite model comes with an infant insert, while the MAX model includes both an infant insert and a larger EPE foam headrest. All three seats are installed the same way and will fit comfortably in your vehicle.

Installation

Can I use a towel or mat under my Harmony booster seat?

For your safety, we strongly recommend not placing any mats or towels behind or under your Harmony booster seat. Adding extra layers can interfere with the seat’s safety features during a crash.

Our Harmony car seats are designed with a special Seat-Saver Design to protect your upholstery, so additional towels or mats are not necessary.

How do you use the shoulder belt guide?

To use the Shoulder Belt Guide, start by guiding the strap up your child’s back. Position the red clip opening facing forward just above the child’s shoulder. Slide your vehicle’s shoulder belt into the red clip, ensuring it lies flat. Adjust the Shoulder Belt Guide by lengthening or shortening the strap for a secure, proper fit. Make sure the vehicle’s shoulder belt is resting comfortably across your child’s shoulder for optimal safety.

Do I have to use the UAS/LATCH?

The Dreamtime Elite model, which is UAS/LATCH equipped, can be installed with or without the UAS/LATCH system in your vehicle. However, it must always be installed using the vehicle seat belt. The use of the UAS/LATCH anchor is optional.

Can I use the UAS/LATCH or the Top Tether for the Defender/Commander Deluxe in Booster mode?

In Booster Mode, you can use the lower anchors to help keep the booster seat in place when not in use. However, the vehicle seat belt is what secures your child in the seat. The lower anchors are no longer a safety feature in this mode, so using them is optional. It is completely safe to use the booster seat without the lower anchors if you prefer.

Important: Do NOT use the Top Tether in Booster Mode. In the event of a collision, the booster seat needs to move with your child. The Top Tether would prevent this, causing the seat to remain in place while your child moves forward, reducing the effectiveness of side impact protection.

To summarize: In Booster Mode, the vehicle seat belt secures your child. The lower anchors simply help keep the booster seat from moving around when the child is not in it, preventing it from becoming a projectile. The Top Tether should not be used.

What is the purpose of the chest clip on your car seats?

At Harmony Juvenile, your child's safety is our top priority, which is why we want to clear up a few common misconceptions about chest clips. First, chest clips are not required by federal law in North America. Second, they do not hold the child in place during a crash. While chest clips are a common feature on car seats, their main purpose is to help position the harness straps correctly, ensuring they stay over your child’s shoulders, which is crucial in the event of a crash. The chest clip gently "pinches" the harness together at chest level, and it’s designed to release in a crash to prevent any harm.

We’ve carefully designed the Commander and the Defender 360 to ensure that when the harness is positioned just above your child’s shoulders as instructed, it’s already optimally positioned for safety. The chest clip serves as an additional layer of security to keep everything in place.

This thoughtful design applies to both the Commander and Defender 360 lines, providing extra peace of mind for every journey.

Is a longer crotch strap available for the Harmony Defender 360?

Currently, a longer crotch strap is not available for the Harmony Defender 360. The strap’s length exceeds the worldwide standard and should accommodate most children up to 65 lbs. However, we do have a few tips to help maximize comfort and fit:

  • Move the crotch strap to the forward position if your child is uncomfortable.
  • Ensure your child is sitting with their bum all the way back in the seat.
  • After your child reaches 40 lbs, you can remove the black padding under the seat fabric for extra room.

How do you use the shoulder belt guide?

To use the Shoulder Belt Guide, start by guiding the strap up your child’s back. Position the red clip opening facing forward just above the child’s shoulder. Is the cup holder required to use this seat (Youth Booster Elite, Dreamtime Deluxe/Elite/MAX, Defender 360)? Is it optional?

The cup holder is not required for safe use of the seat. It is an optional accessory for added convenience.

I already have the backrest and misplaced the seat base. Can I order just the seat base?

Currently, we do not sell the individual components of our Dreamtime car seats separately. Unfortunately, the seat base is not available for separate replacement at this time.

Can I order just the harness (Defender 360, Commander Deluxe)?

Yes, replacement harnesses are available for purchase at $15 + shipping + tax. Please contact us at customerservice@harmonyjuvenile.com, and we'll assist you with arranging a replacement.

Can a fitted sheet be put on the mattress that comes with the Play & Go playard?

The Play & Go playard mattress does not require a fitted sheet. Using sheets or other coverings on the playard mattress can pose safety risks during naps. For your child's safety, we discourage using any type of sheet with the mattress in our playard, or any other playard on the market.

What third party mattresses are compatible with the Play & Go playard?

The only mattress compatible with the Play & Go playard is the one that comes with the playard. Using a third-party mattress not designed or approved for use with our Play & Go models could compromise your child's safety.

Usage and Requirements

Is my child meeting the height/weight requirements for the Harmony Dreamtime?

The Harmony Dreamtime is designed for children within the height range of 86 to 144 cm. If your child's ears are above the top of the booster seat headrest, they have outgrown the seat.

For optimal safety, ensure that your child’s body and head are fully inside the protective shell of the Dreamtime.

What age is the Harmony Merydian car seat suitable for?

As the Harmony Merydian car seat is a R44 car seat, we do not use age to determine safe usage of this seat. The Merydian is suitable rear-facing for children from birth up to 10 kg and forward-facing from 9kg up to a maximum weight of 18 kg. My child is younger than the recommended age. Can I still use this seat?

The age recommendation on the packaging is a guideline. If your child meets the following criteria, the seat may still be suitable:

  • Your child weighs more than the minimum recommended weight.
  • The top of their shoulders is level with the bottom of the seat’s headrest.

When does this booster seat (Dash, Youth Booster, Dreamtime Deluxe/Elite/MAX) expire?

The booster seat expires six years from the date of manufacture. You can find the manufacturing date on the serial sticker located on the underside of the seat base.

When does the Defender 360 car seat expire?

This harnessed car seat expires ten years from the date of manufacture. You can find the manufacturing date on the serial sticker located on the underside of the seat base.

When does the Commander Deluxe car seat expire?

This harnessed car seat expires seven years from the date of manufacture. You can find the manufacturing date on the serial sticker located on the underside of the seat base.

Is there a weight limit for the Play & Go playard changing table?

The weight limit for the changing table is 15 lbs (6.8 kg). Additionally, your child should not be able to lift themselves upright unassisted.

Is the Play & Go playard bassinet safe for an infant to sleep in overnight?

In accordance with Canadian Playpen regulations, the Play & Go bassinet is safe for sleeping as long as your child is under supervision at all times. However, we do not recommend leaving your child unattended while sleeping or using the bassinet for overnight sleep.

Will this Harmony seat fit in my car? (UK)

All Harmony Juvenile Products car seats meet UK safety standards and are designed for universal compatibility. Our seats are engineered to fit most vehicle models without issue, ensuring a secure and reliable installation.
